The 1970's era is one of my favorite periods for vintage eyewear! This era was all about large eye sizes and bold shapes. This vintage  sunglass by Swank is one of the many styles posted at our site  under circa 1970's.

The Edward Beiner Spring 2010 ...VIntage Inspired Collection Has Arrived

"Their is no such thing as anything new only the reiteration of what was!"  "You must know where you have been in order to know where you are going."These two quotes to me summarize basic element of design.
I have had the privilege to  collaborate in the design on the new Spring 2010  Edward Beiner Collection. This collection is based on vintage eyewear from the period of 1980's.  This is when Edward Beiner opened his flagship store in South Miami.  This Signature Piece you see is called the "Dawn" and the element of design features a drop style temple that is a retrospective of the 1980's Eyewear Fashion.  This style is one of six new releases in the Spring Collection.  I invite all to come visit me "Dawn" at our South Miami location to view this collection, it is also available and in stock at all nine Edward Beiner locations.
Manufacturing of this collection was done in Paris, and you will be sure to discern the quality of materials and appreciate the sheer fashion sense as well.  I am very proud to have been a part of the Design Team and look forward to purveying our collection for your discerning eyes.

John Lennon...Vintage Sunglasses

John Lennon iconic style vintage round eye wear.

This classic shape is timeless and flattering. Their are several different types of round shapes, coin round that is a perfect circle or the alternative round shape is what opticians refer to as a P3(the first pair in photo) this has more of a pilot shape deeper vertical measurement.  John wore both styles equally as well because he has an oval  face shape that looks good in most eyewear. Coin round is a harder to wear than the counterpart P3 shape, the P3 allows for a flattering fit on most face shape.
We at atticeyewear.com can help you select the perfect shape for your face. Send a jpg or scan a photo  of yourself and we will guide you in selecting your iconic look that will be all your own.
Satisfaction is our mission so put your face in our hands!

Eric Clapton...Vintage Sunglasses

Eric Clapton one of the best guitarist of all times, is looking cool in his vintage aviator sunglasses. Eric's style is that just got out of bed look and he wears it well.  This vintage photo is classic 1970's style, LARGE, the bigger the better in both vintage eyeglasses and vintage sunglass.  The 1970's was the time for eyewear to become a fashion statement not just a device for Optometrist to put your corrective lenses in. Eyeglasses became a statement of who you were and how you wanted to present yourself. This time for eyewear was the breakout period for designer labels to begin to license out to their Brand.  The 1970's and 1980's are some of my favorite eras.  This is evident when you visit our site www.atticeyewear.com our extensive collection of these two periods is reflective of our passion for these two periods.

Malcolm Mclaren...VIntage Sunglasses

Malcolm Mclaren impresario and manager of the Sexpistols , was an entrepreneur as well as a solo artist ahead of his time. Malcolm conceived the idea of the band to promote his "anti-fashion" clothing boutique "Let it Rock" with longtime girlfriend Vivenne Westwood. Malcolm basically created the rise of punk rock music with his group the Sex Pistols. Malcolm carefully cultivated a buzz in the music scene by creating names like Johnny Rotten and Sid Vicous for the band members. This associated an image of non-conformity and a hedonistic style that was well received along with the  music they created.  This pop culture band pushed the envelope of the 1970's era, although the band was short lived it has made an indelible mark in music that still lives on today.
Malcolm died on March 8, 2010...Godspeed Malcolm.

Claudia Cardinale...Vintage Eyeglasses

Claudia Cardinale wearing her Vintage Aviator Ray Ban Sunglasses. The aviator sunglass is still a staple in Fashion Today.  A classic aviator is really a must have for both men and woman alike. This look offers a sporty look or a very classic style depending upon what your are wearing. Claudia is wearing the Vintage Ray Ban aviator as a prescription lens and it looks great. This vintage oversized aviator eyeglass look suits her very well. I do this a lot with clients take a sunglass and pop the lenses out and then you have a nice large eyeglass. It works quite well.
Being an optician allow me to guide you in a perfect selection of vintage eyewear.  Many times I suggest tinted lenses that helps to soften the look of the oversized glass and allows for protection from the glare of the sun. If you see a frame at atticeyewear.com and it does not have sunglass lenses in it and you wish to add non presciption tinted lenses, I will do so at no additional cost and help you choose a perfect color for your selection.  Let us guide you in a look that will make you feel like a Star.

Allen GInsberg...VIntage Sunglasses

Allen Ginsberg a renowned poet, civil right activist, world traveler, song writer, the list goes on of his genius. One of his most recognized poems is Howl. This poem left a wake for many writer to ride allowing for freedom of expression in a time when gay rights did not exist. Allen was the founder of The Beat Generation. This term was used to describe a style of writing that rejected the mainstream and embraced expression for many nonconformist who did not fit the mold of 1950's society.
"Beatnik" was a stereotype that came from this counterculture phenomenon.  Beatknik...style was all the rage in the 1960's a simple look, vintage sunglasses and dark clothes was the profile for this 1960's counterculture.
