Cure for an obsession: get another one.

This Sunglass is my Obsession.....

Usually I will not post the same style more than once after it has sold on the site however every rule has an exception and this vintage sunglass is mine.

I realize I have FB, blogged, tweeted, twitpic, tumbled, the hell out of this vintage sunglass. I just can not help it it truly is a masterpiece.

Vintage Jackie OHHHHH circa 1960 available at www.atticeyewear.com
This vintage sunglass piece is by SRO Optical and was manufactured in the good old U.S.A.  This vintage sunglass speaks volumes of a time when all was right with the world and our goal was to seek out the best quality in manufacturing as well as incredible styling. Our goal then was to allow for an item that would stand the test of time and Ohhhh this vintage sunglass has done that perfectly!

This piece although shown here as a sunglass can be worn as clear pair of vintage eyeglasses as well for those of you who dare to "bold and fabulous as all hell."

This frame is layered in luxury and I Love every millimeter or inch of this vintage sunglass however you look at it!

TaTa for now.

Vintage+Eyewear=Genius

"Individuality is either the mark of genius or the reverse. Mediocrity finds safety in standardization."  Frederick Krane
        Find Your Mark!
Vintage Franklin Delano Roosevelt circa 1950's
Vintage Pierre Cardin "cotte de armes"
Expressing ones individuality is to me the truest art form we all have to share. While some of us are more minimalist in their art form than others this art form is truly "yours to own". To me finding ones style is simply another chapter of growth in life.  Being satisfied in knowing that it is you that must be happy with the reflection that you cast.

Utilizing eyewear  as your statement of expression is a simple aesthetic that works well for everyone. Vintage eyewear allows for you to be more individual with your expression. If you like having a look that really is "yours alone to own" vintage eyewear is a great choice. Atticeyewear.com collection of vintage eyewear consist mostly of one off hand selected vintage eyeglasses and sunglasses that we have searched out based on our extensive comprehension of eyewear history.

All over the Globe....Vintage Eyewear

Cavanaugh
Atticeyewear.com made our mission statement "To reach the globe with our collection of vintage eyeglasses," and so far we are doing quite well. These photos are of the rock/pop band from the heart of Sweden in the city of Borlänge, Dalarna called Cavanaugh.  This 4 man strong rock/pop band are truly a  powerhouse of great listening music and I am so proud that Jonas wears one of our vintage eyeglasses.  Cavanaugh's music seems to  cross over a generational gap of music listening.  Myself as well as my 18 year old daughter have greatly enjoyed their latest CD entitled "You've Been Had"!  The lyrics to their songs are commendable and thought provoking.

Jonas Nyström

We have met many interesting people, like Jonas. We feel our passion for our vintage eyewear collection truly spans the globe...as our client list grows from continent to continent.  Thank you Jonas and to all of our clients who are helping our mission to be accomplished!
Rock On!

Who say's no Wearing white after Labor Day?

Christian Roth Wrap Cat Eye circa 1990's

Bridgette Bardot circa 1960's
Elton John circa 1970's

Fashion is never about rules,  totally just the opposite. Fashion is an expression of oneself.  I find it interesting on how domesticated we have chosen to become.
Rules are what we make of them.

Many different versions are told as to how this moratorium on "White"... came to be. The most logical rule is that Labor Day marks the end of summer.
White is a color that keeps one cool in the summer months.  Since Labor Day clearly marks the end of summer then eliminating white from the wardrobe was logical.
Liz Claiborne circa 1970's
However since when has being fashionable followed the rules of logic?  I choose to believe that this rule was a part of a separatist "Code"of the well to do fashionista.

Summer has ended so therefore they need to replace the resort wear clothing to get ready to re-emerge back into the everyday life.  Rearranging their closets so that their wardrobe was to include the fall fashions of darker muted colors.

White was eliminated. Now this just does not have to be....break the rules and live dangerously.
Jean Shrimpton circa 1960's
Vintage American Optical circa 1960's
Living in Miami where it is sunny all year round we do not have to re-arrange our closets as many others do. We say to HELL with this antiquated rule. While shopping for the latest fall trends follow your own rules of style! If that should  include white then that is alright.

White is a statement color for those who wish to be seen and I love white. White will keep you looking cool all year round.

Never much for rules anyway!

Complete the Look with Vintage Sunglasses

I search all over to find vintage images of fantastic looking people in vintage sunglasses or eyeglasses! This task one would think would be simple however it is not so easy.  I found this amazing vintage photo taken by Paul McDonough in his book simply titled New York Photographs 1968-1978.
I simply could not pass the image up even though they are not donning shades!

Maestro Andy Warhol...Reinhart Wolf circa 1980's

Portrait of Andy Warhol and Reinhart Wolf

This photo was taken from this great book "New York by Reinhart Wolf" that was gifted to me by a dear friend...Thanks Mark!

The vintage images  in the book are captured by the photographer Reinhart Wolf.  The images are of New York City architechture and are absolutely amazing!   The dedication in the book reads "This is dedicated to New York City and all who live in it."  You can feel as well as see much Wolf loved NY!

This photo taken of Warhol and Wolf was during an interview in the 1980's and I find it fascinating the way that Warhol was captured.  You do not even see the eyeglass in the mirror reflection, yet it is quite apparent Warhol is wearing his iconic eyeglass choice.  This look was usually as you see a flesh toned Panto eyeglass. The style suits his face quite exceptionally.

Warhol was quite myopic and had a rather strong prescription however his short sighted vision made up for the deficiency by his revolutionary vision of all thing simple.  Warhol to me is the overlord of Pop culture and I love his acuity for all things simple.

This post "I dedicate to all who love Andy Warhol as I do."

"If everyone isn't beautiful, then no one is."
